Black Alumni Council

Mission Statement: The purpose of the Clemson Black Alumni Council (CBAC) is to plan and implement programs and events that are mutually beneficial to African-American alumni and undergraduates of Clemson University.  CBAC works to inform, involve, and serve all alumni as it promotes Clemson University by recognizing academic excellence through scholarships.

National CBAC President, Kellye Renea' Whitaker, '90
A 1990 Industrial Management graduate of Clemson University and a 1993 MBA graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Kellye has 20 years of marketing and business development experience and is a Senior Proposal Manager with Parsons Brinckerhoff, an international engineering firm specializing in transportation and planning. Extensively involved in community outreach programs and fundraising, Kellye has coordinated the efforts of over 1000 volunteers in more than 40 community-based initiatives and fundraising events in Metro Atlanta including the AJC’s Empty Stocking Fund, Draft Day Family Fitness Camp, Hands On Atlanta, Atlanta ToolBank, Hosea Feed the Hungry, and Trees Atlanta.

Current and past memberships include the National Black MBA Association - Atlanta Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - East Point/College Park Alumnae Chapter, and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women - MECCA Chapter, and Clemson University Gospel Choir. Current and past Executive Board experience include the Clemson Black Alumni Council (current National President), Clemson University Board of Visitors, Atlanta Clemson Club (Chair, Community Service), Clemson Women's Council Advisory Board, St. Louis Rams’ Chris Draft Family Foundation (Director of Marketing), National Black MBA Association - Atlanta Chapter (Recording Secretary and Chair, Student Affairs), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. East Point/College Park Alumnae Chapter (Chair, GreekHoops Fundraiser), and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women - MECCA Chapter (Chair, Marketing/PR).

Honors and awards received include Clemson University Golden Tiger Award, Clemson Black Alumni of the Year Award, Clark Atlanta University MBA Student of the Year, and Time, Inc. Scholar. Kellye is a native of Walterboro, SC and currently resides in Atlanta, GA.

Fundraising Campaigns (Benefit the Harvey Gantt Scholarship and CBAC Organization):

  • Tiger Roar Campaign: Clemson Tiger Note Cards on Sale Now! $17 per set of 10.
  • National CBAC is proud to announce its first fundraiser, Tiger R.O.A.R. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit scholarships, student and alumni programming, and other worthwhile CBAC initiatives. We are asking all alumni to purchase at least one set of notecards and to also pass this information along to other fellow Clemson alumni. These beautifully crafted notecards would be great for birthday and/or Christmas gifts and something all Tiger Fans would enjoy! Columbia Area CBAC Scholarship
Andre Stanley (left), Columbia Area CBAC Representative, presents the Luther L. Taylor, Jr. Scholarship to Randall Robinson at the annual scholarship dinner in August. Randall is the son of Cynthia and Eddie Robinson '79 of Columbia and is a 2007 graduate of Irmo High School. Proud father Eddie Robinson is the former president of the Clemson Alumni Association. Clemson Black Alumni Council supports the Harvey Gantt Scholarships. Donate to the Clemson Fund by accepting the Graduation Challenge… for instance, if you graduated in 1999 - give $99, graduated in 80 - give $80 annually to the Clemson Fund! Show your TIGER PRIDE!
