Family and friends of Clemson University, the Clemson Water Ski club and the Clemson Water Ski team can help the water ski team stay nationally relevant through a tax deductible donation.  This donation is managed by the Clemson University Foundation and is used for boat, dock, course and ramp maintenance as well as tournament travel expenses, team equipment and recruiting events.  The team has represented Clemson University and water skiers well over the years—including two Division Two national championships. The team members donate their time to the club to introduce new members to water skiing and coach existing members who enjoy our sport.  The team and club have three primary funding sources.

  • The university funds the purchase of a new boat each year (alternating years between an USA Water Ski Approved towboat and wakeboard boat).Team and club dues fund purchase of club equipment as well as maintenance of equipment and boats
  • Sponsoring tournaments is roughly a breakeven event given current water ski participation

What is not funded:

  • Team travel (The university does provide emergency funding for competition at the National Championship)
  • Gas for team practice (not part of the scope of the foundation account)
  • The ability to differentiate the team on a national level other than from the pockets of the team members and their families.

A donation to the Clemson Water Ski Team and Club helps the team represent Clemson University and water skiers on a national scale.  Donations will also increase our ability to introduce more students to the sport of water skiing through enhanced club activities.

If you have any question about the account please contact Bill Tumblin, faculty advisor and ski team member from 1985-88, at wet2@clemson.edu
