What is the Clemson Alumni Society for Equality (CASE)?
Chartered in 2009 by the Clemson Alumni Association, CASE is the Clemson Alumni Society for Equality, the official affinity group for Clemson LGBTQ alumni and friends. Our purpose is to
- Provide professional networking and social activities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning alumni, and LGBTQ-friendly allies;
- Maintain a supportive relationship between alumni and the Clemson Gay Straight Alliance (CGSA);
- Coordinate fundraising efforts for scholarships that benefit Clemson students who make significant contributions to the LGBT community;
- Work with the University to implement is nondiscrimination, harrassment, and related policies to include sexual and affinity orientation;
- Advance the concept of "One Clemson," which endeavors to engage all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors, particularly freshmen and transfer students, in experiential, interactive activities aimed at facilitating dialogue and increasing awareness of and respect for different cultures and backgrounds.
We want to help Clemson achieve its goal of becoming a Top 20 Public University by promoting equality for all students, faculty, and staff. To read CASE's bylaws, please click here. To read our goals for this fiscal year, please click here.

Help Fund LGBT Scholarship
Our 5 year goal for CASE starting in 2012 is to fund a $50,000 scholarship endowment that will award a much larger scholarship than our current annual scholarship; more details will follow in the coming months. Until we have the endowment funded, we will be awarding $500 per year to a Clemson student who is involved in LGBTQ equality work. This is where we need your help! The funds for scholarship will come entirely from the donations of our members. Without you, this scholarship will not be possible.
If you have ever wondered how you could give back to Clemson in a meaningful way while helping improve the university we all love, this is your opportunity. Please help support a current student by contributing to our Clemson Alumni Society for Equality Annual Scholarship today.
You may make a gift online at https://cualumni.clemson.edu/give/case, call the Clemson Fund office at (864) 656-5896, or mail your contribution to the Clemson Fund, PO Box 1889, Clemson, SC 29631. Be sure to denote "CASE Annual Scholarship" on the memo line of a check.
On Saturday, February 25th members of the Clemson Alumni Society for Equality (CASE) met members of the Clemson Gay Straight Alliance (CGSA) for dinner in downtown Clemson. CASE members Chip Dukes ‘92, Brian Cave ’97, and Jackie Payne ’98 shared stories of what campus life was like for them as gay and lesbian students.
